As the Word of God exhorts us to give praise and thanks to the Almighty in all things, the Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, yesterday, Sunday, 13th July 2025, held "ASEDA", to wit, Thanksgiving Service, as the day of reverence through praise and worship to the Almighty God for His many blessings — particularly for her appointment by H.E. John Dramani Mahama and his able Vice, H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, as the DCE of the Gomoa East District Assembly, under the theme: “I will praise the Almighty God at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” – Psalm 34.

This well-attended "Aseda" church service brought most of the political gurus across board, especially from the Gomoa East Constituency, Central Region, and National, both party office holders and government officials.

During her speech, the DCE, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, first thanked the Almighty God for how far He has brought her with so much appreciation. She expressed special gratitude to President Mahama, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim (MP), the Local Government Minister, for the trust and confidence reposed in her leading to her appointment.

She stated that her “thank you” message would be totally incomplete without mentioning her indefatigable Central Regional Chairman, Hon. Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, and his ever-ready-to-support Central Regional Minister who also doubles as the Vice Chairman in charge of Operations, Hon. Ekow Okyere Panyin Eduamoah, for standing with her throughout the processes of her appointment. Hon. Naana was so appreciative of all individuals who played roles, both directly and indirectly, Chiefs (Nananom), Rev. Ministers, Imams and Malams toward the position she occupies today.

Hon. Naana Ackom finally used the platform to humbly call for support to perform her duties effectively — calling on all institutions, organizations, stakeholders, and every individual who matters in the development of Gomoa East to rally behind her for the betterment of the district.

The chairman of the occasion was our own affable, dedicated, industrious, and down-to-earth Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim — who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the good people of Banda Constituency.

In his speech, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim used the occasion to encourage Ghanaians to respect every form of religion — be it Christian, Islam, Traditional, and even atheists — because Ghana is a secular state that respects all faith-based institutions. He further said H.E. John Mahama has vowed to transform the country for the betterment of all citizens through transparent leadership, accountability, and probity. He warned all government appointees, especially the MMDCEs, to be extra careful and vigilant in their operations because President Mahama will never shield anyone found guilty of the law.

The Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister said corruption has been the enemy of the country's progression; hence Mahama's war against it. He finally advised the MMDCEs to make prudent use of the already disbursed District Assembly Common Funds (DACF) and warned that inappropriate usage would lead to prosecution. The Minister didn't mince words at all in advising the general public that the DACF is not for individuals.

He therefore admonished Nananom (chiefs), Reverend Ministers,

and party faithfuls not to ask for a share of the DACF — “No, you people don’t have any share; it’s purely for government business,” he said.

The Local Government Minister also used the same platform to break the news to the world that President Mahama’s promise of paying all Assembly Members, both elected and appointed, on a monthly basis has been delivered and that implementation will be done through the MMDCEs.

He ended his speech by giving a powerful assurance that, as the Minister in charge of Local Government, he would do everything within his power to ensure that the Gomoa East Metropolitan status, which for now only exists on documents, becomes a reality very soon.

The movable-everywhere Central Regional NDC Chairman, Hon. Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, being the NDC Chairman and the leader of the party, got to the program grounds very early and accompanied and led the Minister to the program.

Hon. Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, the retained Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa East, was fully present — offering all his support, encouragement, and motivation to the DCE, Hon. Naana Ackom, so that both of them (MP & DCE) can work together to develop the Gomoa East Constituency and District.

The Gomoa East Constituency Chairman, Hon. Kofi Anthony Efissah — well known and recognized as Dr. Dr. — supervised all the activities together with his fellow Constituency Executives, including Ward and Branch Executives, and countless party members.

Other very important personalities who graced the occasion are — though my pen and camera couldn't capture all of them:

Hon. Oscar Mensah a.k.a. Chairman Oscar – Agona East DCE, Hon. Hackman Kobena Aidoo – Gomoa Central DCE, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah – Effutu MCE, Hon. Nana Asamoah – Dean of the Central Regional MMDCEs / Ekumfi DCE, Hon. Jehu Appiah – Former Gomoa East DCE, Hon. Nana Agyemang – Real Estate Developer, Hon. Dr. Lawrence – USA-based, The National Birth and Death Registrar, Hon. Samuel Adom Botwey, graced the occasion, and the Gomoa East Assembly Members — both elected and appointed — were fully in attendance.

Our nationally well-known gospel musicologist, Mr. Jack Alolomi, also graced the occasion with his sweet melodies, which kept every audience member on his or her dancing feet.

The staff members of the Gomoa East District Assembly led by the Coordinating Director, were fully presented
