The Assembly Member for the Akonkodiem Electoral Area in the Dormaa Central Municipality, Hon. Kwaku Ahor, has revealed that he is intensifying efforts to facilitate the removal of the overflowing Zoomlion container at the KDS dumping site, which has led to improper waste disposal in the area.
He explained that the container remains stranded due to the poor condition of the road leading to the site, hindering Zoomlion's ability to transport it to the final disposal location. Consequently, he has initiated collaborative efforts with the Municipal Chief Executive, the Environmental Health Officer, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure the construction of the road, thereby enabling the Zoomlion vehicle to access the site and remove the container for proper disposal.
He acknowledged that his constituents persist in voicing their grievances regarding the bad scent emanations from the landfill, stemming from the overflowing container that has remained unemptied for nearly three months. He stressed that he is laboring diligently to facilitate its removal. He remarked that the procedures for evacuating the container are not straightforward, and although he would have undertaken the task single-handedly, the complexity has resulted in delays. He implored his constituents to remain patient as he collaborates with pertinent stakeholders to ensure the refuse container is cleared
