In the bustling town of Bibiani, nestled in Ghana’s Western North Region, the air was thick with frustration on a humid 25th July morning.
The town’s vibrant market, a lifeline for local commerce, had become a battleground of discontent for its plantain traders.
Of late, these traders mostly women who rose before dawn to sell their plantains
had operated in a makeshift market which they are not happy with.
The lack of a permanent marketplace had pushed them to the breaking point, and today, they were ready to make their voices heard, calling on stakeholders, MCE, MP to find them a permanent place to sell their planting.
They indicated in an interview with AkuapemHann that, they will not move to Lineso again since New station was permanently given to them by a former MP, Hon. CHRISTOPHER ADDAE.
Other members irately resisted going back to Lineso market while insisting on trading at New station otherwise, authorities should find them a permanent place within Bibiani township for their business else they will stage massive demonstration.
One woman bravely stated that if police officers approach and intimidate them again at the New station as it happened today, they will meet them squarely. "We will discipline them", she vehemently said.
