Wayoe Ghanamannti issues a petition to parliament for the immediate impeachment of the president John Dramani Mahama for his lack of commitment against the illegal mining cause.

The heated discussion about the petition to parliament by the CPP former running mate to impeach the president over his inability to fulfill the campaign promises especially about galamsey which has turned our water bodies into poisonous waste. Speaking on the iTV morning show dubbed Ghana Daakye the NPP communication team member for the Central region of Ghana, Abekah Ebenezer  is in agreement with this petition. He stated that the president should be removed immediately from his position due to his lack of commitment and lies to the Ghanaians.

He claims that the president's conduct of declaring a state of emergency which is prejudicial to the security of the nation is not being taken seriously.

Mr Aberkah also clarifies that it is what the constitution demands for its people in article 69 of the 1992 constitution

He again stated that the president can declare a state of emergency for one week but he keeps on making excuses of what they said when in opposition. He refers to the president as an antidote against the illegal mining.

He also reminds the president that water is life and the alarming rate at which galamsey is being ignored by the government is increasing kidney and liver disease. “Galamsey is a big issue bigger than you and me for it is destroying our food staff and water which is killing us”.

Mr. John tetteh Hogrey, NDC Gomoa East communication team member says that he understands the urgent call for action from the people and the president has taken all things into consideration for the benefit of the people.

"The government has placed measures of licensing in the mining industry to make sure that gold that is trades is being tracked and are from the right company. He stated that the NPP government worsened the case of galamsey to what it is now and have no right to speak on the issue at hand.

He added that, the former NPP government issued more licenses than any other government in power. He notes that the “state of emergency does not necessarily mean that no one is allowed to go into the forest and take part in mining” without any solutions being put into place.

In conclusion both parties throw shots at each other for incompetence from both sides, even though they are fighting for one cause which is that of an end to galamsey and its harmful effects to the nation.
