Yesterday, 30th September 2025, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, donated a number of 5,000-litre polytanks to selected districts in the Central Region as part of ongoing efforts to address the acute water shortage facing communities.

The donation also complements borehole projects currently underway across the region.

The presentation was made on her behalf by the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Okyere Panyin Eduamoah, at a brief ceremony held at the Gomoa East District Capital, Potsin.

In his address, Hon. Eduamoah noted that the Vice President is deeply concerned about the recent water crisis in the region and is committed to finding a lasting solution. He explained that this donation forms part of the immediate interventions being rolled out. He further recalled that during the 2024 election campaigns, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang personally facilitated the provision of 10 boreholes in selected constituencies across the region. These projects, he added, will be extended to other areas once engineers complete the necessary siting operations.

The districts hardest hit by the crisis and benefiting from the initial distribution of two 5,000-litre polytanks each include:

Gomoa East District, Gomoa Central District, Awutu Senya District, Gomoa West District, Agona West Municipality

The respective District Chief Executives personally received the packages on behalf of their assemblies and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Vice President for her timely intervention.

Hon. Eduamoah also urged the beneficiary districts to  cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure the longevity of government property and resources.

The ceremony was well attended by Central Regional NDC executives, party faithful at all levels, former executives, assembly staff from various districts, opinion leaders, stakeholders, members of the general public, and the media, who fully covered the event.
