Ghana has been hit with sad news as reports indicate that former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has passed away.
According to emerging reports, the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings died in the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025. Though official confirmation from the family is yet to be released, several media outlets have reported her passing.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was not only known as Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady but also as a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and social development. Through her organization, the 31st December Women’s Movement, she impacted the lives of countless Ghanaian women and children, promoting education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.
She also made her mark in Ghana’s political space as the founder and leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Her courage, influence, and leadership made her one of the most respected figures in Ghana’s modern political history.
Many Ghanaians have taken to social media to express shock and sorrow, describing her as a visionary woman who stood firm for justice, progress, and equality.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rawlings family and the entire nation as we mourn this great woman whose legacy will forever live on.
