Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has officially suspended all recruitments made in November 2024, following a directive from the Chief of Staff mandating the nullification of these appointments. This move is part of an overarching strategy to ensure compliance with good governance practices within government institutions.

The decision is consistent with an earlier instruction issued to all heads of government entities, which requires the annulment of any recruitments conducted after December 7, 2024. This directive highlights concerns regarding adherence to governance principles, necessitating a thorough review of hiring processes. A comprehensive report detailing the actions taken in response to this directive is expected by February 17, 2025.

A confidential letter obtained by Citi News confirms that the directive has been communicated to all relevant government institutions, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in recruitment.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 11, GWL specified that all recruits appointed in November 2024 and assigned to various regions—who had not yet been included in the payroll as of January 2025—are to be suspended. Management underscored that this measure is crucial for conducting a detailed assessment and audit of the recruitment process.

The statement concluded by indicating that further directives, if needed, will be issued in due course, reaffirming GWL's commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance and operational integrity.
