On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Accra, the leadership of women with disabilities paid an official visit to the Acting Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), Hon. Dr. Mrs. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei. The purpose of the visit was to exchange pleasantries, congratulate her on her well-deserved appointment, and showcase products made by women with disabilities—a testament to their ability to produce high-quality goods in large and commercial quantities, provided they receive financial support and market opportunities.

The delegation was led by Comrade Joyce Gyamfi, the Deputy National Coordinator in charge of operations, NDC Disability Desk/2024 National Campaign Coordinator for Women with Disabilities.

Among the key personalities in attendance were:

Dr. Kofi Baafi (Cula) – Patron of the NDC Disability Desk, a major financier of the Desk’s activities before, during, and after the 2024 elections. His financial and material contributions, both direct and indirect, towards the wellbeing of the NDC and the Disability Desk date back to the 2020 elections and continue to this day.

Dr. Richard Fiadomor – National Committee Chairman of the Desk, known for his unwavering support for the Desk’s operations and its members.

On behalf of women with disabilities, Comrade Joyce Gyamfi congratulated Hon. Dr. Mrs. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei on her appointment, presented the products manufactured by women with disabilities, and appealed for all-round assistance.

Additionally, Dr. Richard Fiadomor and Dr. Kofi Baafi (Cula) reiterated their congratulations and urged the Acting Administrator to facilitate job opportunities for persons with disabilities, as promised in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto. They emphasized that the manifesto allocated quotas for persons with disabilities across various sectors, including:

MMDCEs

Ministerial appointments

CEOs and Deputy CEOs

Presidential Staffers

Board Chairs and Members

Ambassadorial positions

They stated, "We are simply asking for what is rightfully ours—our quota, as promised in the manifesto."

The showcased products included detergents, bathing soap, body and hair pomades, brown sugar, beads, kente, smocks, slippers, sandals, and garments. A few members of the delegation also shared additional concerns aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of persons with disabilities.

In response, Hon. Dr. Hanna Bisiw-Kotei expressed her appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women with disabilities in expanding their businesses. She assured the delegation that those yet to start their ventures would also receive assistance, in line with the President’s promise that the national cake would be shared equitably for the benefit of all. Furthermore, she emphasized that individuals without vocational skills but possessing other talents, including academic qualifications, would also be catered for, in accordance with the 2024 electioneering promises.
