Constable John Kwabena Dogbe, a police officer, sadly lost his life after drowning in the River Offin while working on an operation to stop illegal mining, organized by the Central North Regional Police Command.
After several hours of searching, local police and rescue teams found the officer's body.
Details about how he drowned are still unclear, but sources from Citi News say he accidentally fell into the river during the operation against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
Authorities have started an investigation to find out what happened.
The officer's body has been taken to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.
