BOOSTING AGRICULTURE : UPPER DENKYIRA EAST MP DONATES 50,000 PALM OIL SEEDLINGS TO FARMERS |
The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East constituency, Lawyer Emelia Ankomah, has donated 50,000 palm oil seedlings to farmers in the municipality.
This initiative aims to promote agricultural activities in the constituency and improve the livelihood of the people, particularly in galamsey-affected communities.
The donation is expected to help improve livelihood, reduce poverty, and unemployment in the area.
According to Lawyer Emelia Ankomah, the seedlings are designated for distribution and cultivation among farmers within the affected communities.
Speaking to Sompa News after the handover, Lawyer Emelia Ankomah said, "The first batch of 10,000 seedlings has been allocated for communities in Denkyira Kyekyewere, Zion Camp, Zion 1, and 2."
She also said, this initiative is also expected to encourage more youth and women to venture into agriculture, thereby reducing unemployment and promoting economic growth.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Emelia Ankomah has urged beneficiary farmers to diligently nurture the palm seedlings assigned to them.
She emphasized that the success of this initiative is contingent upon their commitment to the proper care of these seedlings.
Lawyer Emelia Ankomah warned that inspectors will be sent to monitor the development of the seedlings. She stressed that the farmers' dedication to nurturing the seedlings is crucial in fulfilling the intended objectives of the initiative.
