Host of the “Ghana Nti” program, Nana Nyhiraba Kwabena Asrifi, has brought renewed attention to the poor learning conditions faced by schoolchildren in the Asiyaw Electoral Area within the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality.
During a field visit to the community, the host discovered that pupils from Class One to Junior High School (JHS) are still being taught under a temporary wooden shed, despite government promises made two to three years ago to provide a conducive learning environment.
According to the Assembly Member for the area, the situation has persisted since 2018, when the children were first forced to learn at a community center due to a lack of classrooms. The Church of Pentecost later offered the school a temporary space, but this arrangement lasted only for a short period. Eventually, the community erected a shed to keep academic work going.
The Assembly Member confirmed that although the school is no longer located close to the cemetery, which had been a major concern previously, the basic learning condition remains unchanged. The community has, however, provided a large parcel of land to support plans for a permanent school structure.

While a KG block has been completed, all other classes continue to operate under the shed. Teachers and students reportedly struggle whenever it rains, causing disruptions to teaching and exposing the children to discomfort.
When questioned by the host about steps taken to address the situation, the Assembly Member explained that the issue has been under discussion with district authorities and that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has assured the community of imminent action. He disclosed that a sod-cutting ceremony is expected next month to officially begin construction of a proper school building.
The “Ghana Nti” host emphasized the importance of providing safe and dignified learning environments, especially for children in rural communities, urging authorities to prioritize the project and ensure the long-standing challenge is finally resolved.
