HON. NAANA ACKOM MARGARET DISTRIBUTES “600” SCHOOL DESKS |
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the good people of Gomoa East, Hon. Naana Ackom Margaret, has distributed "600" metal-framed school desks to selected schools across the district.
This initiative was driven by two main factors:
1. Direct appeals from school authorities and community leaders in Gomoa Amoanda, Gomoa Akramang, and Gomoa Kojo-Oku, who cited acute shortages of desks and the deteriorated state of existing ones.
2. A comprehensive needs assessment conducted by the DCE’s office, which revealed a critical shortage of furniture across several public schools in the district.
Recipient Schools and Allocations:
1. Amoanda D/A Basic School – 100 pieces
2. Potsin D/A Basic School – 50 pieces
3. Dominase D/A Basic School – 50 pieces
4. Akramang D/A Basic School – 100 pieces
5. Kojo-Oku D/A Basic School – 100 pieces

7. Okyereko Methodist Basic School – 50 pieces
8. Nkwantanang Basic School – 100 pieces
Total desks distributed: 600
Authorities of the recipient schools expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Naana Ackom Margaret for easing the long-standing burden of inadequate furniture in their institutions.
In her address during the presentation, the DCE stated,
"As DCE, one of my core priorities is to uplift the standard of education in Gomoa East. Education remains one of the most pragmatic areas in my development agenda."
She further advised pupils and students to take good care of the desks to ensure their longevity. She urged them to take their studies seriously to make themselves, their parents/guardians, the Gomoa East District, and Ghana proud.
The DCE also lamented the declining standard of education in the Disrtrict, stressing that although formal education in Ghana began in the Central Region, recent examination results show worrying trends. She noted that the poor performance of students, especially in final examinations within Gomoa East and the region at large, is alarming and must be addressed collectively.
Hon. Naana Ackom Margaret challenged parents to reduce excessive spending on funerals, weddings, and birthday parties, and rather invest those funds into their children's education. She cited instances where parents spend heavily on funeral attire while their children remain at home due to the inability to afford basic school supplies.
The DCE was accompanied by the District Coordinating Director, officials from the District Education Directorate, staff of the District Assembly, and some leading members of the NDC.
